Amit Chandra, M.D., M.Sc., is a practicing emergency physician and global health policy specialist. He has extensive international experience in the field of global health providing clinical care, undertaking epidemiologic research, building partner capacities, and advising on health systems development.
At ease in high-stress and resource-poor environments, Amit has worked in a variety of different cultures and languages. His practice settings have included a referral hospital in a high HIV-prevalence Southern African nation, a busy trauma center in New Delhi, a New York City emergency department at the epicenter of a global influenza pandemic, and a frontier hospital with limited funding on a Native American Reservation.
Amit is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. His areas of focus include: health systems strengthening, global health security, health & climate change, innovative financing, trauma & road safety, and non-communicable diseases.
