Maria Teresa Arredondo Waldmeyer

Maria Teresa Arredondo Waldmeyer is full Professor of Bioengineering and Telecommunications at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Spain), and the director of Life Supporting Technologies (LifeSTech), an international excellence research team dedicated to the research and development of the Ambient Intelligence Paradigm to prevent, care and promote the health of people and the support for social inclusion and independent living. Presently, she is the Director of the Vodafone Chair and Associate to the VRRI for Latin America at UPM. She has been principal investigator of more than 60 granted scientific & technical projects dealing with ambient intelligence applied to the social and healthcare sector. Her current research interests include ambient intelligence frameworks for better health and social inclusion, integrated multimedia platforms for health professionals, technologies for chronic disease management, virtual reality systems and human factors. Currently, she is leading the UPM participation in some of the most challenging projects funded by the EU in the area of e-health and e-inclusion. She is the author of 20 books and more than 300 scientific papers. Prof. Arredondo is founder member of the Sociedad Argentina de Bioingeniería (SABI), the American Telemedicine Association (ATA) and Independent Living Forum of the European Union.
